OSPREY TOWERS, 2023
Osprey Towers is a group of three sculptures installed in front of the Imani Dawson Madison project in Burnaby. The works recall condominium towers in form, while introducing elements drawn from the natural world.
Resembling whimsical high-rises, their windows glow at night, fluctuating in colour and intensity. The shifting light reflects the patterns of everyday urban dwellings, while also evoking the silhouettes of birds, bats, or insects crossing illuminated windows.
Two of the towers are topped with large osprey nests, replacing the conventional rooftop with structures cast in aluminum. At night, the nests are lit from within, creating a subtle beacon effect.
Together, the towers explore the meeting point between architecture and ecology, presenting an imagined habitat where the built environment and the natural world intersect.
