A PARALLAX VIEW, 2023
The elegant soft design of the curved forms cascading along the side of BOSA Waterfront at 320 Granville St. (Vancouver) make up the overall shape of A Parallax View (2023). The architectural design of the building, the site’s proximity to the Waterfront Station, the movement of the transient public, and the historic elements of the neighbourhood were all carefully considered during the development of the artwork’s concept. The individual ripple shapes, repeated in different scales, resonate with the stacked forms of the building, emphasizing the relationship between the ground plane, landscape, and tower.
The visually engaging artwork was designed to harmoniously reflect all surrounding elements, complementing the building’s architecture and environment while maximizing permeability. Its dynamic and interactive form, made of chrome-coated steel, reflects the surrounding landscape and pedestrian movement, engaging and transforming the passive viewers into active participants. - Babak Golkar, 2023
